The 2024 engineered stone rules, done properly.
Since 1 July 2024, the manufacture, supply and installation of high-silica engineered stone has been prohibited Australia-wide, and from 1 September 2024 WorkSafe WA has applied tighter controls to any cutting of silica-containing material. Every engineered slab we install is a compliant low-silica or silica-free product, every cut is wet with on-tool extraction, and we keep the paperwork. A backyard fabricator dry-cutting a cheap import is breaking the law and risking silicosis. We do not.
Coastal sun and salt.
Mandurah kitchens take a lot of light. Open-plan homes in Halls Head, Dawesville and Madora Bay face the estuary and the ocean, and that sun fades and stresses the wrong surface. Porcelain (sintered stone) is UV-stable and the safest pick for a north or west-facing bench or any alfresco top near the water. For engineered stone we keep darker, more sun-sensitive colours away from the worst exposure and recommend lighter or porcelain alternatives where it matters.
Templating off level cabinets.
A benchtop is only as straight as the cabinets under it. We digitally template once your joiner has the carcasses fitted and packed level, not before. On the reactive sandy and clay soils around the Serpentine and Murray river flats near Pinjarra, and in older Mandurah brick homes that have moved, that matters. A template taken off unlevel cabinets is how you end up with a 3mm gap to the wall and a sink that does not sit flush.

Digital template
Once cabinets are fitted and level, we laser-template to the millimetre. Cut-outs and overhangs confirmed on site.
Fabricate
Wet-cut and polished in the workshop over 5 to 10 business days. Edges, mitres and sink cut-outs finished.
Install
Usually a single day. Levelled, joined, sealed and silicone finished. Splashbacks and waterfalls fitted to suit.
